How to apply for Orissa State Lalit Kala Academi Award!!!
• What is Orissa State Lalit Kala Academi Award?
Every year Orissa State Government organizes “Orissa Lalit Academi Art Exhibition”. The basic objective of the State Level Art Exhibition is to provide a common platform to the artists of Orissa to prove their creative excellence and to facilitate interaction of the public with the contemporary art movement. The main attraction of this exhibition is that it ends with Award Giving Ceremony to the best Exhibitor. This award is called “Orissa State Lalit Kala Akademi Award”.

• Category of Awards
There will be 8 (eight) Awards for the most outstanding exhibits in 4 categories i.e. Painting, Sculpture, Graphic Art and Traditional Art. The Judging Committee may recommend for less than 8 awards if, number of outstanding exhibits are not available.
• Amount of Prize Money
Each award carries cash prize of Rs. 25,000/-.
• Eligibility
The exhibitor must have the following eligibility criteria to apply for “Orissa State Lalit Kala Akademi Award”.
1. Any artist who has already received the Orissa State Lalit Kala Akademi Award will not be eligible for the award during the next five consecutive years.
2. Every exhibit entered for the exhibition and accepted by the Selection and Judging Committee will automatically be regarded as being in competition for the awards, unless indicated “not for competition” in the Schedule.
3. The Non-Oriya participating artists are also eligible to get this award.
4. No exhibit will be accepted which has been already displayed / awarded in any of the previous Art Exhibition of Orissa Lalit Kala Akademi.
5. The General Council Members of the Akademi Member of Selection & Judging Committee may participate in the State Level Art Exhibition, but are not eligible for award.
6. No exhibit will be accepted which has been already displayed/ awarded in any of the previous Art Exhibition of Orissa Lalit Kala Akademi.
• Procedure to apply
The procedures to apply for Orissa State Lalit Kala Akademi Award are as follows:
1. The eligible exhibitor may apply or enter their exhibits in the prescribed schedule form and the artist’s Biodata Form within the prescribed date mentioned in the Schedule Form.
2. One artist can participate in more than one category and in that case, he/she has to deposit the entry fee and schedule form separately.
• Supportive Documents to be submitted
The following supportive documents must be submitted while applying for Orissa State Lalit Kala Akademi Award:
1. Attach the duly Filled in Schedule Form with self passport size photograph and the Bio-data form designed for the artists.
2. Enclose photographs of the exhibits.
3. The Non- Oriya participating artists must submit the Xerox copy of their Residential Certificate/Vote Identity card in support of their domicile.
4. Attach Xerox copy of the money order of the entry fee or the postal receipt.
• Selection Criteria
The selection criteria for the Orissa State Lalit Kala Akademi Award are as follows:
1. The decision of the Selection and Judging Committee shall be final and no objection on any ground whatsoever shall be entertained.
2. Every exhibit entered for the exhibition and accepted by the Selection and Judging Committee will automatically be regarded as being in competition for the awards, unless indicated “not for competition” in the Schedule.
3. A two tier Jury system will be in place for selecting the exhibits and deciding the awards. The first team of Jury members will select out of the entries received in response to the prospectus which are ticked “For Competition” or “Not For Competition”. The selection will be made by the Jury only on the basis of the photographs received with the prospectus along with the bio-data of the artists belonging to Orissa.
The second team of Jury members will select the award winning works from the exhibits selected by the first Jury and displayed.
4. Size of the exhibits (Painting/ Graphic) should not exceed 120 cms. In length or breadth.
5. Sculptures should be submitted in durable materials and must not be more than 4 feet in height (including pedestal) or length or breadth.
6. Works should be original and any imitation will not be considered for selection. Traditional paintings and Sculptures submitted must not be imitation of the past.
7. All Photographs/ exhibits will be submitted before the Selection and Judging Committee with full authority to accept or reject any exhibit at their discretion.
8. Only two works of an artist in one category will be accepted.
• Points to be taken care of
1. Any participant who is willing to insure his/ her exhibits may do so at his/ her own cost.
2. If any damage is caused to any of the exhibits due to unavoidable circumstances the cost of the exhibits as fixed by the authorities of the Akademi will be paid to the owner, and the owner in question shall be bound to receive it.
3. Under no circumstances the selected art works can be returned unless the exhibition is over.
4. Copyright to exhibits acquired by the Akademi from the exhibition shall rest with the Akademi. Artists will have to furnish a certificate to this effect on being intimate of the sale.
5. The Akademi will retain 15% on the sale price of exhibits.
6. Failure to comply with any of the Rules embodied in the Prospectus will cause rejection of exhibits.
7. As far the framing and labeling of the exhibit are concerned exhibits must be suitably framed and provided with ring hooks. The exhibits with Glass framing will not be entertained.
8. All Exhibits must have labels pasted on the reverse side with outer frame.
9. Exhibits must be collected by the exhibitor within fifteen days after closure of the exhibition on return of the receipt issued by the Akademi. The Akademi shall bear no liability for any exhibit beyond 15 days after the exhibition is over.
• Submission of Exhibits
1. Only colour photographs (7”x5” size) of the exhibits will be received along with the Schedule duly filled in with self passport size photograph and entry fee. In case of sculptures 3 photographs (front, back and side view) of each work should be submitted. Photographs should be true to the original work in colour and clarity. Title, medium, category and size in cm. of the work along with name and address of the artist have to be written on the reverse side of the photograph. The photographs are not returnable.
2. No original work should be submitted by the artist unless instruction is sent by the Akademi. After first tier selection on the basis of photographs, the selected artists will be intimated to submit their original works in the Akademi relevant to the photographs.
• Entry Fee to be deposited
1. The Entry Fee (non-refundable) Per-Schedule is Rs. 150/- (Rupees one hundred fifty only)
2. All the money order coupons or the covering letters must contain the following information:
a) Name and address of the Sender
b) Amount remitted
c) Purpose of remittance:
4. Non-receipt of official receipt from the Akademi for the amount remitted must
be brought to the notice of the Akademi within fifteen days.
5. The entry fee sent by M.O. or by cash should reach the Akademi office before
the prescribed date in the Schedule Form
6. No. refund of entry fee will be made once the Schedule has been accepted.

Annual Awards Presentation Ceremony of Odisha State Lalit Kala Akademi
BHUBANESWAR: The 33 {+r} {+d} annual art exhibition and annual awards presentation ceremony of Odisha State Lalit Kala Akademi, State's apex body for fine art, mounted at the Central Lalit Kala Akademi's Regional Centre here, concluded on Saturday.
The five-day exhibition showcased 103 works selected by a four member jury -- Debendra Dash, Binod Moharana, Tarakant Parida and Sovan Kumar -- out of 333 exhibits submitted by 203 artists of the State, according to Akademi president Durga Prasad Das.
Similarly, another four-member jury, comprising Mrudula Sinha (Benaras Hindu University), Ramakrishna Vedala (regional secretary, Central Lalit Kala Akademi), Adwaita Gadanayak (noted sculptor and president AlumniBKCAC) and Khil Bahadur Khetri (art educator) selected eight artists for the State Awards out of 91 works received by the akademi.
