Gurgaon based Odia Artist Sudhanshu Sutar got Guru Byomakesh Mohanty Award 2012

On the day of inauguration SHRADHANJALI, a visual tribute to Guru Prof. Byomakesh Mohanty, Guest Prashanna Patsahani announced first Byomakesh Mohanty memorial award of 2012. Odia artist Sudhanshu Sutar felicitated with shawl and memorial sheal...the event was organized by Odisha Artist Association..

Senior painter and Orissa Lalit Kala Akademi Secretary Byomakesh Mohanty passed away at his home town of Cuttack on Monday


BHUBANESWAR: Senior painter and Orissa Lalit Kala Akademi Secretary Byomakesh Mohanty passed away at his home town of Cuttack on Monday afternoon following a massive heart attack. He was 53 and is survived by a son and his wife.

Family sources said that he was fine and talking on his cell phone while suddenly he complained of chest pain and fell down on the floor. The doctor, who was called in, declared him dead.

Mohanty, who studied art in Benaras Hindu University, served as a faculty member at Government College of Art and Craft, Khallikote and was the Head of the Department of Painting at the B.K.College of Art and Craft here before being appointed as the Akademi's secretary this year.

Mr. Byomakesh Mohanty at this new role of Secretary Odisha State Lalit Kala Academy



Before becoming secretary Odisha State Lalit Kala Academy, Byomakesh Mohanty worked as the HOD (Painting) at B.K. College of Art and Crafts, at Bhubaneswar.He studied visual Arts (Painting) at BHU. He was appointed as a member, Advisory Committee of Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi and executive member Orissa State Lalit Kala Academy. His paintings have been preserved in many important Art Galleries including National Museum of France, Paris & Dusseldorf Art Gallery, Germany. He has served as jury member in various National Art Exhibitions.

AlumniBKCAC welcomes Mr. Byomakesh Mohanty at this new role, hoping he will work towards uplift rich odishan tardition of Art and Culture and growing contemporary art.
